Fall Colors in the Garden

I know I took these pictures a month ago of my garden and yard, but I was too busy enjoying the view to share right away (I guess).  But this post is mostly just about pictures, pretty pretty pictures.

As the weather turned cool, the yard became more subdued as most of the showy flowers have all died down.  But left were more muted, and some brightly colored leaves to showcase the season.  You can also see the Nandina already in bloom next to the house.

This brilliant red Japanese Maple greets me as you drive up to the house.

From inside the house, a view out towards the side and back.  So many different colors and textures create a beautiful landscape.

And the view of the garden in the back.  Dogwoods turned crimson and purple, while crape myrtles turned yellow.  I loooooove looking out my windows.

This dogwood is right next to the sky room, and we had a few weeks of spectacular scarlet colored leaves.

At the end of the driveway, and a couple of weeks later, the Red Dragon lived up to its name.  I think this tree is so beautiful and delicate with such fine tendrils for leaves.

The previous owners told us this was a 40th Anniversary gift.  I know it must have been heartbreaking to leave it behind.

And then just a week ago, we had a frosty morning.  Can you believe I did not “touch up” this photo (or the next) at all?!

I think I might starting using this for my computer desktop.  (If you want a larger, better resolution image, just let me know!)

And finally, tonight, we took a quick look at a stop on the tacky light tour in Richmond, and …oh my…

And I thought there were a lot of lights at Lewis Ginter… This was really incredible.  If you are in Richmond, and love looking at lights, you will love the tacky light tour.  But beware, there are LOTS of people (and limos and buses and trolleys) out looking at the lights too.  :)
