A few weekends ago, hubby and I decided to go out for Brunch. Going out for bunch feels like a decadent treat, and we like to take the opportunity to try something new. While walking around downtown Fredericksburg, we came across a new restaurant tucked away in an alley, in what used to be a little shop.
The “Housemade True Southern Biscuits” is what grabbed my husband, and I was curious to see what all they had to offer. And so we stumbled across Foode.
The space is not very big, but there are a number of small tables, and one large farm table for family style seating. You walk up to the counter, order from a simple, but very tasty menu, pay, and find a place to park. Hubby ordered his biscuits with sausage gravy, and I ordered Benton’s bacon omlette. It was so yummy I couldn’t wait to take a picture of it.
Benton’s bacon comes from Tennessee, and the other ingredients are all local. Not only was all of this food delicious, it follows this (newish) trend for Farm to Table food. Eating local, fresh food is good for our health, good for the environment, and good for our neighbors. I feel such joy know that my dollars are being spent to promote and sustain my local farmers.
They also had a yummy mint-infused simple syrup sweet tea. Now, I am not a sweet tea drinker, but theyir description had me intrigued. We bought a “jar” and it comes unsweetened, with a shot of simple syrup to sweeten it to your liking. The mint was subtle but gave a warm feeling to the tea, and it tasted great. No super sweet tea for me.
If you’re ever in Fredericksburg, I highly suggest you try Foode out!
