Minty Fresh Necklace

About a year ago, I saw a gorgeous Amazonite necklace in Architectural Digest, and was inspired to do something similar on my own. Unfortunately, I cannot find the photograph that was my inspiration. I did find similar colored beads at Michael’s months ago, and bought them when they were on sale. I held on to them, not entirely sure what I wanted to do, until I found this pinterest board. BrittanyMakes is a blog I sometimes look at, but I found so many pretty (and similar colored) necklaces on her pinterest board, that it inspired me to make my own.

Disclaimer: it is not made out of mints, nor can it freshen your breath.

But I am hoping it will freshen up my style a little bit. :) I’m seeing this color all over the internet, althought tt’s not a color I am usually drawn to. But I love the look at the feel of these gemstones. They feel heavy and drape nicely.

It was fairly straight forward to put together- I just strung the beads on a waxed linen thread, and then added a gold chain with a lobster clasp. I wanted to do make something easy and fun because I’ve really been struggling to make another necklace with small glass beads, and I really wanted to finish something.

And here’s a silly shot of me wearing it all made up (just for you!)

I think I’m going to tweak the necklace a bit though, and change it so that one strand hangs completely lower than the other. But other than that…I’m digging it. :)
